Fl2 diff bearings

My outlaws have a 2010 plate freelander with about 50k on the clock. It appears the diff bearings are on their way out. Has anyone else had it as it looks quite a common problem looking online. Any ideas of cost as they are getting a few quotes and interested what ball park is reasonable.

It's going to a local land rover specialist and is about £700 all up I gather but not sure if that is an exchange unit or just bearings. They do about 4K a year in it so next to nothing and has an easy life but seems it's not unusual.

A mates is off the road as well with a issue that means it occasionally just won't start but will if you disconnect the battery for a few minutes. These are the newer meant to be a lot more reliable ones.......

We had this on a 2007 FL2 at about 70,000 miles, Land Rover quoted about £2k for a whole new diff. We got it repaired at our local independent Land Rover specialist, who supplied and fitted a repair kit, for less than £400. The car was fine after that, and it was still ok when we sold it at about 130,000 miles

Me too they will have a code on them to order from a bearing dealer.

Reliable and the green oval never sit well together.

It got done at a local specialist for £700 or so, funny how these are meant to be the reliable model but this is a common fault and the more people I ask the more seem to put up with things just for the green oval. Seems door locks are a common issue and a mate is struggling with an intermittent starting problem that seems to be having all sorts changed in an effort to work it out.

An extra 8mm earth lead from the battery to the starter motor seems to be a common mod for starting issues. So I've read recently after getting a 59 plate one.
