ShaggyRS6
Just found this. It may be of some interest for someone in the Kent area. BTW, if you get the job I would appreciate you bumping me and Nad up the list http://www.kent.police.uk/Work%20for%20the...dministrat.html
naddan28
Yes please sounds like a plan! Also, LB might want a variation (free of course )! The worrying thing is that, knowledge of firearms and legislation is only an advantage! That explains a lot doesn't it Dan
lurcherboy
The last thing they want are people that shoot. I got that from the horse's mouth. Now if only I had been a good boy when I was young LB

That explains a lot doesn't it Not really, standard wording these days really. Means you will get the job if you know your apples, but you don't have to know them to be the right kind of person to be shown how to know them. Bit of a closed shop if they only employ people who have previously been FLO's, you kind of run out of them before long
naddan28
Well the fact it doesn't even mention training will be given etc and the problems some PW members have had with FAO's then well it is worrying (IMO)! Also, note further down "intelligence gathering" when did we all become Al Qaeda suspects!?? Dan

naddan28
Dan, I put a call in on Friday to the Licencing Dept. the bloke said its now 6 - 8 months. I am gonna call my FLO tomorrow to confirm as he told me 4 - 6 weeks I haven't even finished filling in my forms as wanted to sort the cabinet out first! I think I will see how tomorrow and tuesday goes (going to see potential room for let and new boss) then try to catch the farmer to get him to fill in the bits and check all is well. Although told him I was going to apply for my SGC and he didn't seem at all bothered. Plus, before he told me any paperwork that needs filling in for "bigger guns" he will happily do! Dunkield
If they quote long lead times, tell them you are available at short notice if the get a visit cancelled. A PW member did that in Hampshire and jumped up the queue by a good few weeks, you do of course need to be able to get home pretty quickly or already be at home. pin
6-8 months is nonsense Get on to BASC or equiv and get them hassled, if they really did have a 6-8 month backlog i'd be very surprised.
ShaggyRS6
I dont think its a case of the visit. I think it's more the processing of the applications, hence the advert for the job. Still not acceptable IMO. In fact, I will call my FLO now to confirm.
Lurch
6-8 months is nonsense Get on to BASC or equiv and get them hassled, if they really did have a 6-8 month backlog i'd be very surprised. New computer system is really clogging the works up. I wouldn't be at all surprised at 6-8 months, Cumbria is normally one of the quickest but my shotgun renewal has been with them since about Feb. Funny this new computer system is getting blamed for all manner of sins, some forces think its the best thing to have happened in years, others can't get on with it.
