A Beater Required, Stalham Area, Norfolk.

Recommended Posts

We are a small shoot of eight guns and we shoot on six Saturdays, first shoot is on 4th November, then roughly fortnightly with the keepers day on the 27th of January, this is one of the six days. Average is five drives a day usually finishing around 2.30 to 3.00, a couple of the drives are quite thick with bramble etc but it is not a hard day, bag is around the 50 mark. Looking for a beater to cover all the days, that's five days with a stick and one with a gun plus the last day of the season with a gun, this is a walk round and vermin day.

A dog is not essential as we have a couple of the guns involved with gundog training clubs so we are always well covered.

Anyone interested give me a pm, atb Steve.

Good luck for your search for a beater , problem is there are loads of small , medium and large shoots all within a few miles of your shoot , why not give the local wildfowling clubs a ring and they will put your request out at there monthly meeting .

Saturdays shouldn't be to hard to find someone who want to put his or her first foot on the ladder in the world of field sports , plus people tend to go where they are looked after , most shoots now offer everyone the chance to have a brace of birds to take home , a sweep stake for shots fired and the size of the bag, and a snack like a sausage roll or a piece of pork pie at 11s or at dinnertime , you will then find over a period of time that different members of the shoot will bring the odd bottle of home made wine and the odd home made pie and before long the breaks are eagerly looked forward to , after all the shooting is only a small part of what should be an enjoyable day out.

GOOD LUCK
