nagantino
Who would be a farmer with our weather. I stopped by this field again to see if it was cut, and maybe to see were any birds flighting in. The Combine has been here for weeks. treeratcontrol
I passed a field of Spring barley on the side of the A75 in Dumfries and Galoway this week while delivering a waggon load of hay that was now almost certainly a write off. That sort of total loss takes some standing.
henry d
Keep an eye on it! We had some on the farm we shot over and there were 000`s of pigeon and pinks visiting it as the grain started to sprout on the heads

There's an odd field around here not cut, and quite a bit of straw still lying. And pity help anyone trying to dig spuds.
stumfelter
A few years ago a farmer near here had a field of wheat that went over and he left it for months, most rats I"ve ever seen in one place! We shot hundreds.
nagantino
Yes, that's the Mournes. This is my best field but I didn't fire a shot on it this year. There were birds on it during early September but only on flattened patches so I didn't want to wade through the standing barley. My other good field wasn't in barley but silage and nothing there either. Two good days on OSR though.
