Strawnend
I have been feeding a splash for the last 2 weeks with barley. Every morning I go to find 30-40 mallard feathers and check on the feed. However last night I went for the flight and not a bird came in but the next morning the mallard feathers were there so I assume they are coming in after shooting hours? any advice guys ? Thanks Edited November 20, 2017 by Strawnend
anser2
Try a morning flight, they may be coming in at dawn. If they are already there then you know they are coming in the darkness. Your only answer then is to try a moon flight.
figgy
When you say shooting hours, are you time limited to when you can shoot it ? Lots of duck come in when it’s full dark and you need some backlighting from moon or clouds or light pollution from towns or industry to see to shoot them. Strawnend
I live in Northern Ireland so I can only shoot 1 hour after sunset and the birds are not coming in during the morning flight. I have flighted other splashes fine but it was just weird to me why they are coming in so late in the pitch black

old'un
You may not have many ducks coming to your splash, 30-40 feathers mean nothing, you need to see what numbers are using your splash, how much grain is being taken? Also you have only been feeding it for two weeks, plus there is still plenty of food out on the stubble's. Keep feeding and wait for a good wind and overcast, chuck a dozen old unpeeled bananas in the shallows each time you feed, ducks go mad for them. Strawnend
I understand what your saying but there are no stubbles here around me it’s not like england haha you have to work hard for any bag of ducks. I will see how I get on thanks Edited November 22, 2017 by Strawnend
