Stonepark
Hi Stu, As far as i can see three things affect the shot travel: - 1 - angle of fire, eliminate difference by using a magnetic inclinometer when shooting. As demonstrated by your tables, 1 degree difference can have a marked result. 2 - no matter what the manufactuer claims, you are unlikely to be getting over 1200ft/sec at the muzzle of a 410 with 3 inch carts, whilt the 20 bore can get a true 1350ft/sec or higher at the muzzle. 3 - Pressure increases quickly with the 410 and result in a lot of damaged pellets and if 3% antimony or less lead pellets are used with hot loads to try to get higher velocity, damage can extend to 100% of the pellets. Damaged pellets bleed speed due to air resistance and also cover a greater distance as they curve away from the point of aim. Ultrastu
Thank you, thank you , thankyou Hadn't thought about the antimony content. I also agree .I doubt that most .410 carts actually make the stated velocities on the box but would still be 1000 fps plus in most guns .
