Pigeon Shredder.
You may find that the key is only for flush chokes, the reason that the extended are knurled is so you tighten them by hand.
steveshoots
cheers mate that's how i tighten them but on a shoot last week a bloke on the end of the line blew out the end of his barrel this was put down to a choke comming loose. I check mine all the time now just thought that a choke key would tighten them a fraction more giving peace of mind. Thanks for the information though. AULD YIN
Think you will find you need the key to nip them up, flush or extended
samboy
I tighten mine by hand and have had no trouble but i do check them every few shots.
AULD YIN
Why would you put a choke in without using a key to nip it up ? seems a good way to knack the barrel or at least the choke.
Westley
I found that even having 'nipped' up the extended Teague's in my Beretta 391, after around 20 or so shots they had backed themselves off. Changed to Briley extended, problem sorted.
steveshoots
Thanks guys that's quality information just what i needed arguments on both sides . But my safety is paramount. May even go back to flush for a while till i get sorted.
saracen32
A wise decision Steve i was asked the same question when i tried to sell mine with a key. Using a key to nip them up not only stops them moving its quicker and the knurling keeps cleaner.
