If they were after doing naughty things they could also convert the old blank firing pistols into live firing 22’s or reactivity an old deact gun. There’s lots of things that can be done if you have the tools, technical skill and desire.

Or they could just put a drop of petroleum jelly or 3 in one oil in the recess of a air rifle pellet.

Rather than spring powered airguns, the increase in sales has been in C02 powered multishot pistols I believe. A lot more effective  and concealable than a full length air rifle of equivalent power. The main picture in the article of the girl with the full length scoped air rifle gives a misleading slant to the actual reality.

My example with a springer was just to remind how easy it is to get more power from a restricted air rifle... I'm guessing a restricted CO2 gun/pistol could be easier to unrestrict, as there will just be a regulator vale to adjust/remove?

Reading back through this post, am i the only one that gets the impression that you are purposefully trying to get a rise from someone and be arguementative?

You would be wrong, you can modify firearms / air rifles in all sorts of ways that doesn't mean you should.  My response was to the below posts, that comes across to me its a OK thing to do, if you read that differently fine.

Surely it can't be that hard to 'open them up' and get more power once purchased?...

How many spring air rifles over here were upgraded to beyond 12ft/lb after legal purchase, by just legally buying a stronger spring and fitting it at home...

It is/was common practice. Those air rifles then are illegal - but nobody would ever own up!!

It's your interpretation of my post which is wrong.

I never once said it should be done or is OK to do... but like I said - I'm not naive enough to think it's not happening.

You said it was common practice, that's a bit more than thinking its happening.  Post are open to interpretation, if i interpenetrated yours wrong OK.

He's stating that it was and is still happening.

I cant see how either post promotes doing it and breaking the law.

But as yu say, people read things differently.
