Deako
Mark, I hope your friend has great success with his version of the Air-Pro, but he needs to be careful with the size, otherwise the birds create too much drag and simply eat your battery life. As Lancs says, we have two versions of the Air-Pro now, large pigeon and small and both work equally as well to be honest. As a company we are just delighted that our competitors are now looking to make a version of this decoy...it only seems like yesterday that 'a chap on this forum' was slagging them off and saying they only worked on ferals!! ...its great to finally have the recognition for producing an excellent product. kdubya
not sure if "the chap" who you refer to as slagging them off is me? BUT my experience of "spinney wing things" comes from the"terminator" I bought from you, and not a cheap thing was it!! it did NOT work on woodies but by god it worked on ferrals, why I dont know but work it did, it was lent out / retired by me long ago,now your vid clip on your site shows FERRALS does it not? Now will beasley (yes I apprieciate he is a competitor) sent me some hypa flaps late last year to try out, ( I did not ask for them and had not even heard of them) I was initially sceptical but hey I got them for free so I gave em a go? and do you know what I LIKED them so much so I put my hand in my pocket and bought some more, so that now whenever I go for pigeon ( and thats a damn site more often than I post about it) up go two mags and two pairs of hypa's, and results so for for my neck of the woods have been outstanding, I have had more birds in than any other tactic I have used, oh and yes I have also had days when the magnets dont work, but overall I say it as it is with them and that is bloody good, so good that I never feel the need to replace the hypa's with real birds, also worth noting for the diss believers of artificial over real? on my last couple of trips out using the hypas and silly socks myself and hawkeye off this site set up an intial decoy pattern then placed shot birds on cradles in line with one magnet and the silly's in line with the other? and guess what we had birds landing but amongst the silly's? dont ask me why but prefare the silly's they did, fact not fiction. oh an this aint a knocking session or a "dig" its just as it is, with no axe to grind or malice, simply as those who know me, know I say it straight. cheers KW

You have stated your observations clearly, but have you seen not only the promo video which often refers to "ferals" but another new video on CD for Hyperflaps/sillys? Both are interesting for different reasons. What seems to be missing in both is a methodology and “control†for the experiment. If the video aim is to prove to would-be-purchasers that their gismo is the answer then I am afraid they have missed the basic science and methodology to make the evidence stick. Things I would do are ..... Only change 1 variable at a time, be sure as to what is pulling the birds in... decoys on the ground or the decoys on the rotary..... For sure the videos have entertainment value and are of interest on a number of levels, but as a potential purchaser and someone who is used to experimental methodologies then I wish for a bit more. Perhaps I am just too naive on pigeon decoying but I do want more as proof that I should buy this or that gismo. Maybe it is a good thing that I don’t know what member is from which company or has some link/affiliation. Much advice to me was to “keep it simple, observe and good field craftâ€. I’ve been shooting and hunting for 35 years and I tend to agree with the suggestions. However, I also have an open mind and help people/companies develop new products as a day job. When new things come along they need to be looked at properly, tested and experimented with and to not just prove or disprove them but to evaluate what circumstances they are most effective in. Is this too much to wish for or ask for in the video? Despite what I have said here, I fully appreciate the value of experience. Your own forum post is much valued and helpful, thank you.
