Jaymo
Also used to extend a 20” barrel to conform to UK laws or 24”
BinaryB
Eh? If your barrel is 20” it’s illegal. Use of an additional add on doesn’t suddenly make it legal. It’s not even legal on FAC at 20”.

It’s not even legal on FAC at 20”. They were used in the early days to indeed extend the barrel length to the U.K. minimum for back In the 80’s before the Hungerford subsequent law change, many short barrelled pumps etc and some real odd balls on fac. The Cutts compensators are a welded on device that once having the barrel reproofed effectively made that barrel 24” and hence, still legal to buy today. A bit like a certain importer who’s A590’s are 20” but have a ‘ported’ barrel extension to get them passed. Wasnt talking about you and I extending our 20’ or 18.5” barrels but a suitably licenced rfd ( even then the once sec 5 always sec 5 grey area comes about) But, had this been a single barrel/ double barrelled shotgun if the non pump / semi flavour, then one with a barrel shorter than 24” can be held on an FAC
