watto69
Hi A little help and advice if anyone can help please. I’ve just purchased a very clean and clearly little used Hatsan Escort Extreme with a 24” barrel for use in the hide. The problem I’m having is the distance that the spent cartridges are being ejected by. I have today measured it with a tape, and they are ejecting by at least 15 feet. This happens with both 28g clay shells and 32g pigeon loads. I’ve owned a Hatsan previously, but don’t ever remember them throwing spent shells this far. I compared it today with my Benelli Vinci, and whilst I appreciate this has a different mechanism, the Benelli only manages about 5 feet max. Does anyone know if this is this normal? Many thanks. Andy47
Watto, yes, this is normal for the Hatsan. I have one and ALL spent cartridges end up in the adjoining hide or next field no matter what load you use. The only down side is that the Hasan doesn't like 65mm cartridges or sometimes 21g, other than that clean it every 100 rounds or so and make sure the ports in the barrel are clean.....I used an ear bud without the bud... hope this helps
watto69
Thanks Andy, it does become frustrating when your trying to find shells that have been spat all over place. Cheers for the advice.

impala59
My old gen. 2 hatsan used to do this too. It’s a better (if slightly frustrating) problem than the thing not ejecting/extracting at all, as some have experienced with this brand Edited January 31, 2019 by impala59
watto69
Hi. Thanks for your help. I managed 18 feet today with a 32g Clear Pigeon!
Seadog1408
I have just overhauled a lefty escort and decided to try it at the clay club, got some good rebounds from the stand!!!! Mike
strimmer_13
Tape a bit of old bike inner tube over the port. Leave the bottom hang. Should have enough force not to hinder it self loading, you'll still access the bolt, and should make em drop by your feet. Id like to say ive never tried it on a semi auto though
B725
Not many people have tried getting rubber on a semi 😁

Harry136
You can buy shotgun cartridge collection bags which attach to the side.

Mike Reminds me of seeing a bored scorer at a clay comp getting an abrupt wakeup as a shell from a lefty semi bounced off his head. Funniest thing I saw for ages
