Hatsan Escort Extreme Cartridge Ejection

Hi

A little help and advice if anyone can help please. I’ve just purchased a very clean and clearly little used Hatsan Escort Extreme with a 24” barrel for use in the hide. The problem I’m having is the distance that the spent cartridges are being ejected by. I have today measured it with a tape, and they are ejecting by at least 15 feet. This happens with both 28g clay shells and 32g pigeon loads. I’ve owned a Hatsan previously, but don’t ever remember them throwing spent shells this far.

I compared it today with my Benelli Vinci, and whilst I appreciate this has a different mechanism, the Benelli only manages about 5 feet max.

Does anyone know if this is this normal?

Many thanks.

Watto, yes, this is normal for the Hatsan. I have one and ALL spent cartridges end up in the adjoining hide or next field no matter what load you use. The only down side is that the Hasan doesn't like 65mm cartridges or sometimes 21g, other than that clean it every 100 rounds or so and make sure the ports in the barrel are clean.....I used an ear bud without the bud...

hope this helps

Reminds me of seeing a bored scorer at a clay comp getting an abrupt wakeup as a shell from a lefty semi bounced off his head. Funniest thing I saw for ages
