ChrisR
Hi all After getting a great deal on a Webley & Scott Wildfowler semi auto earlier this year I found it would occasionally hang up 2¾ (70mm) cartridges on ejection. Recently Webley & Scott have put a disclaimer on their website stating only 3†(76mm) or above cartridges should be used. I like the gun a lot so don’t really want to get rid so I’ve been looking around for 3†cartridges with lead shot in 5 or 6 shot sizes. I know I can get steel 3†in any amount of sizes which I do use occasionally for Duck but really want lead for the Pigeon. (don’t really trust steel) I’ve found RC50 in number 5's & Eley do an Alpahmax magnum in 4's but if anyone knows of another 3" cartridge with lead shot in number 5 or 6 sizes please let me know. Cheers Chris
al4x
thats a pretty **** statement from them. I can see the logic if the gun is just for wildfowl but to have to use 3" cartridges is mad especially with the cost and also I'm not sure they do any in 6's as I can't really see the need for a heavy load with small shot. pin
With gas operated auto's it's normally only light loads that won't cycle. They say 3" 30g or better, will it not cycle 32g no 6? I'd tell them to stick it up their **** if it won't shoot them.

leeboy
If W&S are saying only use 3" shells they are not going to sell many guns !! I wouldn't want to shoot 3" unless absolutely nesessary and then only for fox and wildfowl. I think you will have problems finding 3" shells in lead small sizes. If the gun has a 3" chamber it should cycle 2 3/4" shells down to an oz or 1 1/6oz without problems. The 3 1/2" enertia guns will struggle with much less than 1 1/8oz but you should be alright. i think you need to have that gun looked at, sounds like you got a bad one. Zapp
Recently Webley & Scott have put a disclaimer on their website stating only 3†(76mm) or above cartridges should be used. Thats insane.. I'd give some serious consideration to chopping it in against a 391 or similar, or you are in for a hell of a lot of hassle! ZB
pin
Its all fine and well saying "it should", the Webbly & Scott website says otherwise which is pretty decisive. If it wasn't known about when you bought it you have a right to shove it back at them. As has been said get yourself a 391 or one of the new synthetic brownings
Country_est
Got an Extrema 3.5" and it will happily cyle 28g loads on clays to 3.5" steels on the ducks and geese. Got some 3" lead but they are in BB for the foxes. Got to say that if it wasn't stated before you got it I would take it back, as it will loose value if it can only do 3" loads. It even cycles 24g skeet shells 99% of the time. I'd send it back, even an Escort will better that performance! If you can find a used Beretta then get one, lovely guns

Leeboy The inertia/floating chamber Winchester Model 50 will cycle an empty Smartie tube! :( Yes but it will require cleaning after every shot as the innards of the things gunk up quicker than that and they have/had a reputation for falling to bits. Isn't the mod 50 short recoil op ? Nice collectors piece, wouldn't want one on the foreshore. Leeboy
