sandspider
Hi all Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good home insurance company, for a small holding type property? Oil heating, trees, bit of land, some public access / liability etc. NFU won't cover it as it's in a flood area (small stream!) The usual big names sometimes will, but they're expensive and I'm not sure how good their policies are for rural things like oil theft, tree falling, bridge collapse... Anyone know of / use a good one? Cheers.
harkom
GGA ..?? I suggest, respectfully, that you research the history for flooding on your property and near vicinity as this may prove useful in your search. Insurance Co's seem to collate their information on flood risk from "maps" which cover an area rather than the local topography. Good Luck with your problem. robbiep
If you've still got any, try a local broker
sandspider
Thanks chaps. No local broker, long gone! A previous occupant of a neighbour's house managed to flood his property by blocking a small stream, years ago, and it's still on record. It may never come off! Pain. WelshMike
Farmers and Mercantile are pretty good. Been with them for 18 months, small holding with buildings, lots of liability cover. Had a break in to one of the barns and £1500 of tools nicked. All sorted with no hassle and premium didnt go up much. Have accidental damage away from the home for the rifles, NV, Thermal etc
