hedge
Great little read! Had a similar issue in our kitchen extension when a rat got into the hollow wall after chewing through a poorly fitted waste pipe. Stuck one of my IP CCTV cameras in the wall space to get the evidence (it records movement so does it all while we're asleep using night vision) Set the Mk4 Fenn trap and the little sod ate most of the food off it (you're not the only one). Peanut butter was recommended to me as it sticks to the plate and they can't run off with it. It STILL managed to eat half off the bait by staying on the 3x3 but it eventually had to commit to the trap and that was that. It's a cracking video to watch. So - peanut butter is the key (and leave the safety off!) 😂
washerboy
Spent some great times hunting rats with a small pack of terriers. If and when they ban lurcher work I will once again own a terrier or two just to hunt the rats.
Benthejockey
Fortunately we never got them in the house but they got close. They started in the hedge by the hens, then under the slabs and the shed by the hens and by the time we realised there was a problem they were running across the garden and stealing left over dog biscuits out of the dog bowls if they were left out and fighting by the back door. I caught 48 in 12 weeks and a squirrel and 2 rats tails where theyd been flicking the traps with their back ends to set them off. Plus a female and 8 babies in the raised beds. We moved the hens and emptied the raised beds and then took the shed down when we moved house and the dogs had 3 more young ones! I was quite enjoying the hunt to be fair! Now we've moved house I've got a new nemesis....magpies!
welsh1
Good read. Peanut butter smeared thinly on the trigger so they have to lick hard ,or a bit of mars bar moulded round the trigger, they seem to love both.

Or honey. 👍
