malkiserow
see below for new pictures added I read somewhere on this forum a bit about using old brick strapping to use as a spring..... Well it seems they only supply (or mostly) bricks in plastic strapping now ... BUT.... Lintels come in spring steel strapping... I got a couple of grades today and cut the lghter grade into short lengths 12 inch and used tin-snips to trim the top to fit the decoys. Here the bit I want to add............... using a 15mm plumbers pipe bender lose block lay the steel along the length of the bending block then with a bit of rod.... about 12mm Dia sitting on the outside of the steel..... crush the steel in a vice-jaw to bend the length of the steel making it rigid where you push it into the soil... it becomes a lot more usable then. you can adjust how much steel remains flat depending on the weight of the Decoys and how much movement you want. Markio
How about a picture guide? NTTF I think this is a wise idea, mainly because i have no idea what malkiserow just said. Something about rigid benders and lengths.

DOLLSEYES
Try using old hacksaw blades, but first grind the teeth off and grind a point in one end.I find they give shell decoys loads of movement.
henry d
I use similar ones but I mounted them on wooden stakes and used the slot further back as it is a better fit and less likely to fall off, as they all do at some stage. The big stakes are used to loft the deek over tall crops such as peas or on rape stubble, which as we all know is cut long.
malkiserow
Hi Henryd, I also have the rear mount.... I like your bend to use the centre of gravity... I'll try that. Have you touched up the paint? I've been trying to get the glare off but the Plasticote matt spray I bought was rubbish..... any ideas? cheers Malk
