lancer425
Daughter has a 10 plate Focus 1.5 TDCI. Fuel cap is one of those ford just put the nozel in and pull the trigger, its started cutting out and you have to just crack the trigger or it cuts out constant. Takes ages to put a tenner in and she spilt about a gallon of diesel yesterday trying to fill it with the nozzle lifted out a little. Any idea if these are repairable or is it new filler neck&cap from Ford .
Newbie to this
My 56 focus does this occasionally, different filler I know, but what seems to cure it is twisting the nozzle one way or the other. I've also had the same thing with my Transit connect and it works for that as well.
old man
Probably down to the delivery pressure/rate from the pump being greater than the tank neck ability to lessen the pressure inside?
strimmer_13
Yea had this on fords and fiats. I found turning the nozzle 45 degrees helped but not all the time. I did find some pumps worse than others, i always went to the same pump, always had a problem but moved to another and it would be fine. As old man says above, pressure and breathing problems. ph5172
I have had this. I twist the nozzle to the 3 or 9 position and withdraw it slightly- I find it happens if the holding tanks are full there is more pressure
