digger
Morning folks. Returned from my hols yesterday, sorry to hear about the bisley meet. Flew to Vancouver and then cruised up to Alaska, what a beautiful place Alaska is, breathtaking scenery and an amazing amount of wildlife. Took the kids whale watching where we saw humpbacks "bubble" feeding ten yards from the boat. Took a ride on a float plane to spend a day fishing for koho and chinook salmon which had started their run.No word of a lie there were fish showing as far as the eye could see. Visited a hunting store in Hoonah where I met a couple of guys who were preparing for their next trip, took the talking into a bar over the road and within an hour was given the opportunity to try out a rifle and a .357 handgun. All the hunting they do is for subsistence and the handguns for protection against bears. Strange walking into a shop where all the bullets and cartridges are stacked like cans of beans in Sainsburys ! The best holiday I have ever had without a doubt
Cranfield
Hopefully you took some pictures, just to make us all a bit more envious. The floatplane fishing trip would be high on my agenda.

Zapp
I have been to canada a couple of times through work and absolutely love the place. Beatiful scenery, loads to do and undoubtedly the nicest people I have ever met. I am toying with the idea of moving over (I found out the going rate for a house like mine would buy me a small farm over there, and mines only a victorian terrace ) Glad you enjoyed your hols. digger
Afraid my fishing trip coincided with the girls going whale watching so the only picture is of my plane taking off. The largest salmon I caught was 11lbs, but the boat I was on saw fish to over 30lb landed. I will attempt to post pics of the stunning scenery and my take off. Mossies were not a problem as we were on salt water all the time however I was amazed to see bumble bees flying over ice next to the Hubbard glacier. We stopped a mile away from the face of the glacier and watched chunks break off and crash into the sea, the sound like thunder reaching us after the waves had subsided. On the trip out I was advised the ladies in Vancouver are amongst the best looking in the world, that advise is true as I can still taste the pavement on the bottom of my tounge and have a black eye from Mrs Digger
High Desert Hunter
I lived in the Interior of Alaska for 4 years, the best years of my life, now I am trying to find the right job so I can go back, I'm sick of all this heat. Glad to hear you had a good time, I think everyone should take a trip to Alaska at least once. Dave
Bagsy
Twice I've been to Canada, twice I've fallen in love with the country and the people and twice I've had that awful feeling in my stomach having to come back! When the kids are older I'll be taking them too, and I can't wait. Of the country's I've been to Canada would be the place for me if I had the money and the guts to emigrate. Glad you enjoyed it!
