Graham M
Saw something on the TV tonight about a “Ram-raid†in which a car was used to smash its way into a shop. They tried to steal the cigarette machine but when they got it out to the car they found it was too big to get into the boot……so they dropped it a ran. They also had a go at a cash machine which proved to be empty as well. The final tally…….nothing stolen…over £1000 worth of damage….. I think they should be gassed and put out of their misery, as they are obviously too thick to be able to cope as a normal human being. G.M. TP, sorry to hear about what happened, not much else I can say I'm afraid. GM, there used to be an awful lot of ram raiding here a few years back. Got to the point where they started using JCB diggers to rip cash machines out of walls!

Mungler
Very sorry to hear about that Pete - it is the way of the world now, but you're right it's pretty mindless / stupid. Cheap CCTV?
poppythedog
Sorry to hear about your grief, I am self employed too so I know how it hits you in the wallet when these sort of pond creatures strike. Have you thought about leaving all you cash drawers open at night so they can see they are all empty? It won't stop them breaking in but it might save you buying new locks for the machines. dusk2dawn
Sorry to hear about your grief, I am self employed too so I know how it hits you in the wallet when these sort of pond creatures strike. Have you thought about leaving all you cash drawers open at night so they can see they are all empty? It won't stop them breaking in but it might save you buying new locks for the machines. I feel for you, we all grafted for a living and the lowlife sponge or just take, I was SE all my working life and suffered the odd setback right up until I retired trucks were being vandalised and fuel nicked. What PTD says makes the most sense and large signs telling (if they can read that is) the scumbags that the cash boxes are emptied every night. In a way I feel sorry for plod as they are generally undermanned and bogged down with paperwork, given X no of minutes to get from one side of the county almost to the other just to satisfy ridiculous government statistics. When they do nick them all the scum get is a slapped wrist despite the damage and inconvenience caused by their mindless actions. The other aspect is that if you claim on insurance you end up with an inflated premium not only to cover this loss but also any possible reoccurrence so you end up losing either way. If not then perhaps a roller shutter door might be the answer.
Griff36
Tosspot I used to repair commercial laundry equipment for a living and I have changed 100's of cash boxes on both washing machines and tumble dryers. My best advice is to cash up every night and leave the cash boxes sticking out of the fronts so that it is obvious that they are empty, it may be a pain in the ar** but so is changing all the locks.
