Scrumbag
Hi folks, anyone stripped the woodwork on a Browning Auto 5? What worked or didn’t? Mine is an early 60s version I think. Thanks in advance, Scrummy
enfieldspares
Old school Nitromors was what I've always used. You can't get it now. Don't waste money on the current stuff. It's not up to the task.
Farmboy91
I used no nonsense stripper from screw fix on my greener and 410, can't see why it wouldn't work on your browning 👍
wraivi
Blackfriars paint & varnish remover does the job, faster than the screwfix stuff and dries off nicely. Ive used both and the Blackfriars was way better. It's Strong smelling and a bit more expensive but does a good job.
lancer425
celulose thiners once you get it soft and its coming off it wipes off easy. just keep soaking it to soften it.
enfieldspares
How do I obtain the Blackfriars stuff and is it as good as the old Nitromors, please?
Wingman
Oven cleaner in the spray can worked well for me, I think I did a writeup on here a while ago when I did one of my Auto-5's.. Edited June 9, 2020 by Wingman

Way better than the screwfix no nonsense.
