washerboy
I like nothing better then small lures for perch and chub. With the gyms been closed I've bought my licence and out this afternoon for a few hours on the canal and maybe a small river. Anyone had a chuck about yet
kenholland
did some jigging and drop shotting, but decided to have a go with a couple of wagglers I bought today , so I will give the canal's a whirl soon. trouble is that I have noticed a lot more human traffic on the path's now more bikes more walkers joggers dog walkers , so I will try and find a stretch as far away as possible, good luck. washerboy
Yes I have notice more cars parked up with folks setting out on walks. Fished a few hours today, 8 small perch but a lot of miles covered. So hard work for the fish. 2 pegs produced the fish and the other 3 miles there and back not a sign
chrisjpainter
Nice walk though? I've had a couple of goes off the yak on the Thames and had some small pike, but not the best first weeks of the season! What lures were you using? washerboy
Fox shads at first but nothing at all, switched to a small salmo hornet crank bait and used that for the 8 fish. I love using the crank baits, these are tiny with just one treble hook on
washerboy
Another hard few hours, 6 small perch and lost a lovely bigger perch at my feet on a lure I had put on to try it as it was still in the box and I had bought it yrs ago and never got around to using it. I was gutted and went home then
Robertt
At the start of this debacle I decided to have a concerted effort Perch fishing. Although there are decent Perch locally, up to 3+ lb all I was picking up was palm sized Perch and loads of Hammer Handle Jacks. Sod it, the Pike gear came back out and after half a dozen casts, ironically, I lost a Perch of about 2.5lb on a Bomber 7" lure. What followed was weeks and weeks of Hammer Handles and I'd lost hope of catching a fish over 3lb. Yesterday 8 pm was running a lure tight along the edge of a lilly pad and a mid double took it, did a spectacular tail walk and was gone. Gutted. MirokuMK70
I've been doing a bit on my local ashby canal and the river anker. Had 9 zander (small schoolies up to 1.5 lb) lost one a bit bigger at the net and a decent perch last night so was happy with that. Loving the lure dibbling as its something i can keep the kit in the car and just do an hour when i get time...
