snarepeg
So, my seriese 2A fitted with a disco 300 tdi on Range Rover running gear has this problem. foot on brake, start engine in foot pedal goes down as it should. on tickover into gear and drive forward brakes anchor well but when driving at road speed the brakes are like rock with very little stopping power. any ideas gents, can't go everywhere on tickover😳
scutt
brake servo or connections leaking not enough air to operate power assist to brakes.

Yep deffo a brake servo problem . Check all connectors on the vacuum side normally a pipe from inlet manifold to servo it normally has a one way valve in pipe .. if no vacuum leaks I'd say a duff servo. Could be the push rod from servo to master cylinder adjustment but be careful with adjustment as can cause progressive brake bind if over adjusted or bad performance if not adjusted enough
wisdom
I would say vacuum pump or pipes leading to it.As you have brakes at low speed. When the rpm picks up its leaking.
snarepeg
Thanks gents, was of the same opinion on leaking issues. will remove air filter later to get at the vacuum hose etc. will let you know the outcome.👍😊🇬🇧
dead eye alan
Sounds more like the vacuum hose calapsing and closing up hence no brakes at higher revs,

snarepeg
Servo pump and pipe good so now looking at a servo unit replacement. spoke with previous owner and it's been on 14 years so could be going down.
