discobob
on some forums that I am on (car related) this thing about fuel always rears its head. I have always used Supermarket fuel unless there is a very good offer on the big names - now namely Costco - but while I was filling up in Swindon (Sainsburys down by Windmill Hill) I would regularly see a local dealer bringing their cars in to fill up there - It was a Ferrari dealership!!! I did have a photo but long gone now

I completely agree. I won't bore you with my full opinion, but I will say that fuel branding is much like cartridge branding - 99% of the difference is marketing, and 99% of users will not notice a benefit from using the more expensive option. I do have a car that sulks if I put fuel with a low RON rating in though.

Suffice it to say, if your car is complaining on supermarket fuel, you probably have an underlying issue. As for the RON, obviously check your car's manual. Some require it, but most cars these days should auto-adjust, as e.g. US fuel has quite a low RON.
