Lloyd90
6 hours ago, figgy said: Debate how Lloyd90 ? It all depends on where and what your shooting and with what. Over splashes decoys steel and lead the mod, this 1/4 choke in measurement. I had a full for general shooting wildfowl splashes as geese it wasn't the best, either too tight with 32 4shot for ducks over splashes and not great with BB flighting geese. Go for xtra full for flighting or the mod for all round, it shoots BB shot good enough. Or better still just buy a Briley mod and xtra full for same cost. Work great and your covered for all your shooting. More of a query than a debate sorry. I shot a nice goose the other day with 3 1/2” (42g) BB ... I’d hardly say it was hard hit. I couldn’t even find a pellet on the whole body, think it clipped the neck. I have 36g 3’s and 36g 1’s to use mainly now, I am almost out of the BB’s and don’t think I’ll bother buying anymore. figgy
Lloyd with the right choke BB can be very good. Patterning is a must to know just what they're doing. Depending on range a 36g no 1 might struggle unless well up front. But use what you have most confidence in.

Recently the range the geese have come over I should have left the 36g 3 in the chamber and not swapped it for a BB!
figgy
We have all taken geese with 3 shot, no time to swap sometimes. They work very well at the right ranges. Best all round steel.cart.

figgy
I wouldn't, I'd buy Briley mod and xtra full as that's what I did. If I'm going out for ducks on splashes or decoys it's the mod, if I'm going flighting for geese or high ducks the xtra full. I've had a few aftermarket chokes Kicks, Carlsons and the Briley as far as I can see are as good.
ratty1
Right I've got it here with me. Now how do find out what model it is. Choke thread is at the end of barrel.
ratty1
Looks like early model. 3.5.inch chamber.

figgy
I'm sure this choke type has came up before and been discussed on here with a picture of the different chokes used in the models. A search might find it, if you know how to do a search, I can't find a thing using the search. Looking online that's the V1 version 1 choke and is a Beretta Mobil choke according to truelock interchangeable chart. V2 has threads at the bottom of the choke and V3 are Rem choke. What length chamber is your gun 3" or 31/2" ? Edited October 22, 2020 by figgy
TIGHTCHOKE
Yes looks like a V1 like I posted earlier.
ratty1
Hi figgy. Thankyou for that info. I'm no good at anything involving technology. I will try a search as back up. It's a 3.5 chamberd gun Thank you everyone. Looks like problem solved, now to go get a kicks ordered

You must have a right oddball choke size in it then. Send the kicks back for a refund. Some of the earlier hatsans had questionable machining of barrel threads for the chokes. Lots of people use Mobil chokes, others have said Huglu chokes fit and that's what they're cut to. Mandel do extended chokes for it, pick the multi ported and it looks like a kicks choke. ratty1
I think as you says the choke threads are a bit questionable. It's a stop gap gun so I'm not overall worried about getting a kicks for it as I use a 10 most of the time, ile get a sx3 or something simular for next season. I will look into mandel but if my gun has odd threading then I light just be wasting time and money on it.
figgy
Just use the standard chokes, they'll still do the job when not using the ten bore.
