harrycatcat1
Our cooker has only one working gas ring now, we had two up to yesterday. The other two stopped working about 6 months ago but never had the need for four rings at once anyway. When you press the knob and turn it the ignighter lights the gas but the gas doesn't stop on when you let it out. I presume it's something to do with the "thermal coupling thing" Question is, are they repairable by me or is it a plumber job? Is it cheaper to get a new cooker? Are there any links to YouTube you can think of. I've looked but cant find any. Thanks for any advice.

You should be able to see it when you lift off the burner as you would for cleaning, in fact this was probably when it gets displaced. I am presuming that the white insulated thing is the igniter and the other thing sticking up is the thermal "do da"? I have tried rubbing the thermal thing with a small wire brush but to no avail. Any ideas? Edited November 2, 2020 by harrycatcat1 Spelling

ditchman
iis the thermer whatsit connected underneath to a wiry sort of thingy or a tubey sort of thingy ?
JKD
Have you tried lighting the gas using a different flame source ? If it lights and the gas jets function properly, this would lead to the fault being with the ignition. Another possibility,,,, are all the components dry and clean ? Looks like a major dismantling job to be honest as I don't know how to get into underneath as its above the grill. 15 minutes ago, JKD said: Have you tried lighting the gas using a different flame source ? If yes to the clicking but no to spark, that could also be wet. Have you cleaned it recently ? Also,,,, are you putting a wet saucepan on the ring and trying to light it ? None of it likes dirt or wet 😉

The igniter works it's just the gas won't stop on when you let go of the button.

Ok, seen that 👍 Can't help with gas issues, just basic stuff. Possible low gas pressure 🤷♂️ Good luck 😉
