As Cranfield said there was no mention of clamping down on legally held guns and I have to say I'd welcome a clamp down on illegal guns and the penalties for possesing them to be made far more stringent. But it means we need to police our borders properly and inspect every bit of freight that enters the country and that simply isn't going to happen. If the police deal with illegal guns it will actually take the pressure off legal gun owners as dropping crime figures will mean it becomes less of a public focus.

He might not have said that he intends to clamp down on legal guns. But by bringing up the pistol ban as a victory against gun crime he is suggesting that by banning legal guns he is making the streets safer. Hence, be worried for your guns!

come on get a grip, without legal guns what would happen to the country, Farming would be knackered as pest control couldn't be done. The number of car accidents involving deer etc would massively increase. Legal guns have a place and the country would have a lot of issues without them. Pistol shooting in a way served no purpose other than having hand guns arround and was an easy scapegoat in the face of issues that were really more about the suitability of those granted licenses. If you have genuine need for one now you can still get them but it will involvedestruction of animals rather than punching paper.

All slippery Gordon is doing is to dig up all the phrases that useless, spineless, professional politicians do when they are either in a mess or an election is possibly in the offing.

Dig up the phrases like "Tough on gun crime, Spend more money on the NHS, Housing, Police, I will protect the weak in our society etc., etc, that the ones with short memories seem to like.

As always, judge them as they have acted in the past.

Good Olde Gordon destroyed the pension schemes in this country, under funded the armed forces, enlisted hordes of administrators to the NHS, and generally pratted about having a right good old time whilst the rest of us ended up poorer because if his tax schemes.

I don't seem to recall him slagging off The Bliar whilst Gordon was his right hand man, getting deep in the trough with Georgie Bush.

That's it, rant over.

All the grannies and aunties seem to like the bloke as he is now a dad, and he can put on the sincere, "Trust me I'm a politician with scruples" act like an Oscar winning actor.

Sorry, rant over.

And the rest of his chuffin mates - I recall Jack Straw when he did have scruples, before he got sucked in by the power kick, and Greed is good.

That's it, I can feel me blood pressure hitting the blow off valve........

Going for a lie down in me white coat.

Don
