Mrs Sweepy
right sweepy and i have had mizty(springer) and sammy(clumber) just over the year now.and boy what a year that has been .i think we have been though every emoticon possible with both dogs .from being frustrated and annoyed when you was left standing as the dog disappeared over the horizon let again .to love and triumph for that little fur ball when it bought back it very first retrieve. and i admitt that there was many times that i could have so easliy jack it in . in fact one of are very first posts on here was asking you lot what you thought about sending both dogs away to be trained .but we took you advice and we persevere. and today it paid off .now to all you experience dog trainers out there i surpose you will now be thinking why is suzy getting so excited about it (i think even sweepy thinks i have lost the plot a bit )but when after months and months of not seeming to get anywere and then in a matter of days it suddenly all falls into place .well am going to tell the world .(ok pw anyway) this afternoon me and sweepy took both dogs out together for a bit of training .up to this point we have always trained them separate. we went to one of the fields were we trained .and we worked the field inline with each other. the dogs were fantastic they turned on every hand signal and whistle when needed.and sammy bless him was able match mizty at every move. i know we still have a long way to go . but i now feel that we have two very promising gundogs living with us .xxxx suzy
Cranfield
I know how you feel, its great when that moment comes and things just click. There will still be times when they take a few paces backwards, but hopefully, the hardest bit is over. I can understand the people who buy older dogs to escape the puppy period, with its house training, vandalism, minor ailments and frustrations , but I think that the dog you end up with is a better dog, if you go through all that with them.
