moondoggy
I’m looking at getting one of these Tirfor type cable pullers by a company called Vevor. Just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of them as to whether they are any good? Edited February 27, 2022 by moondoggy
Wymondley
Copy of a Tirfor, I have a similar one by Brano. As you may know they come in various sizes and need their own special wire rope. As for use, mine is heavy, awkward and hard work, but I can use it in all sorts of places I'd never get the winch on the Land Rover. I can't remember the last time I used it but it's a useful bit of kit. What do you want one for?

Wymondley
Just now, moondoggy said: I don’t need speed, just a good steady pull. You'll get that, the only downside is it can be hard work, it'll certainly warm you up on a cold day once you start to feel the load. They work just as well pulling, lifting or lowering. I can't vouch for that particular make, but my Brano version has been faultless. Just remember to look after the special rope, the winch grips it as it passes through, and will slip or crush and damage regular wire. It's rather inflexible stuff, I store mine on a wooden cable drum but I've seen them coiled on the inside of an old motorbike tyre.

loriusgarrulus
I have a Maasdam rope puller. You use it with dyneema rope. Very useful in the wood. I got mine sent over from USA via Amazon.
London Best
I bought the smallest Tirfor model at the Earl’s Court Boat Show in 1979. I still have it. A very useful piece of kit.

When I got mine I had it sent over from Amazon.com in the USA.
