Ebay and chokes

Hi all

Haven't post much here as all the info I have need has already been said. However what is the score with Ebay and Chokes, been scanning there and everywhere else looking for chokes for my browning 525. Then today lucks in, new listing for some skeet chokes which I need, also looking for a half and quarter but no luck yet. Not in a rush to get but if some came up for the right price I would buy. You know the score looking for something but not really looking (if that makes sense).

Anyway put in may bid and left it, 7 day list so just see what happens. Then get a email from ebay listing removed due to breach of some ebay law. And a while back I was watching some chokes and they just vanished.

So my question is can you not sell chokes on ebay ?. They are just bits of pipe!!

Cheers all Bob.....

I suspect that they have an office full of little nerds ,who are desperately looking for reasons to delete adverts so that they can justify their jobs. I have had items removed for pathetic reasons, but I will always question it.

If they think that they are gun parts ,then they will remove it. Which I suspect is the case here.

The strange thing is, there might be another one or more that slip through the net.

It annoys me immensely the attitude towards guns. They must think we are all terrorists, but were getting onto another subject here now so I'll get off my high horse.

Was he offering paypal payments?

If so he may have been charging a paypal fee which is not allowed.

Or he could have linked to another site which is also not allowed.

you can charge for accepting paypal.

just look on ebay.com

Its against eBay rules to charge for paypal, I know because several of my items were removed as I said "please add 3.4% when paying via paypal".

I sold a set of browning chokes about a year ago on fleabay, but the auction was pulled and I had a snooty email from them saying I couldn't sell 'firearm components'. I complained like crazy and pointed out that they would also have to ban any small tube which was inert, and the relented and reinstated my listing.

But, since that, most times when I list something I get a warning on the final page (in big bold red letters) where it says 'list your item' warning me that it is now against ebay policy to allow an sort of firearm including antiques, models and replicas, also any parts or spares for any type of firearm.

I have a suspicion, that there are folk outside of ebay who look for things like this and report the seller immediately. I had three auctions pulled about a month ago for stating... 'this item is advertised elsewhere so I reserve the right to cancel this auction'. The three listing were pulled in less than 24 hours. Sod 'em, I took the words out and re-listed. If they'd sold elsewhere, I would have just pulled the auction and upset the potential buyers.

Regards the other point ref - paypal. I believe that paypal is now owned by fleabay so they wouldn't want anyone being put off paying through paypal.

The last line which used to be here expressing my views re: ebay and paypal has been removed as it may have offended some readers.

Actually its not eBay who check the auctions, its other members who surf eBay that can report the auctions, eBay will then take a look and decide if its against eBay rules.

So it could be someone you were in competition with who reported you!

Apparently, this happens a lot.

If you read the "Community" forums/discussion areas on eBay, there are people on there that think they own the place.
