Dave-G
Thinking of minor car chassis/sill welding etc. I don't have a need for one but this looks like it might preserve the usable life of a car if it needs a bit of TLC at some future date. https://petuch.store/products/hg500?h=AT2eH_yQ4sFkbCjLSIyn33f0jb1K9yRQhmFVpPnYRFqYqiezc83Etl4C1BEMXrLa-YX8iFnZJQeV8tNYUieS5qVVob-sm8Nf3yZS8gTr0OZWCMEQGv7gR9tR_k8iFFx-hBgj&c[0]=AT1pwi3IDk-Jv9HwEvRO6ZTzGKV9pzqfbTBNMH_u5xwzJutZ3K6UR_JgmBCBETkNYsC9vKFovH5dfDsWAzLCn7mU_EOfgn8yot8BRChGkde-3S7SvCW_pwKFQaAFjkZ2ZL3g8P9ITh0bpVia8KoEQuItnVxk9NFi3a08twkUxGVt3HbobHRbJL1LJ5go5-PHhIPxdUZaLTZOoz89XppTMwsdMyvpADtr1V5SicMZ3Cp-6BKvfs9pcp-sQg6gYedlC2Dr0jOZRh-kPBYL0_mWcNeXgaduKgZb5504VeL4qwEq0DQmcIcwLmuyMlOT1Lh3-k9ahhEauVWD14yp3qD7uIhQK0xs0ahpZrRjpJ8hFwQxlA&variant=1230739 Edited December 7, 2022 by Dave-G

oldypigeonpopper
Hello, have to agree with Simon👍 , where is the mig torch/gun in the photo ? Edited December 8, 2022 by oldypigeonpopper
Dave-G
Cheers chaps. Money being tight was the main reason for thinking the opportune £41 investment might cover any potential future requirements, and space for it as this seemingly is significantly more compact to go with the price. Plus I'm a sucker for buying tools that may come in handy - however that only applies if I'm still able to crawl about under the car... age 71 ATM, I've just refreshed all the underseal on the X-trail. It'll likely just get stashed in the tiny workshop with the other stuff I hoard that will possibly either get binned after I'm gone or get inherited. So after the replies I'm now thinking to let it go by. So perhaps the conclusion is best left as... it sounds too cheap so probably is. Get yourself down to the old Aylestone Gun Company place at 1-3 Paigle Road, Aylestone. The corner door is now Guildea Welding Supplies. I am sure they'll be able to give useful advice? And on the way get "All Screwed Up" on Cavendish Road! Edited December 8, 2022 by enfieldspares

Dave, all you need for the type of welding you mention is a MIG welder, 80 to 120 amp and use argon or argon mix gas, oh and plenty of practice with thin metal sheet,

And on the way get "All Screwed Up" on Cavendish Road! I've been a frequent visitor to All Screwed Up since Pillar Engineering packed up. I'm not much fussed about getting a welder - but £40 quidish was maybe worth a punt is all, I've got over the urge now thanks. Cheers chaps - I've got over the grab a bargain urge now.
