Ultrastu
So for a long time now my favourite .410 cartridge has been the hull high pheasant 19 grm no6 plas wad .it seems to drop pigeons and crows well out to 35 yds I picked up a box of the game and clay 11 grm no7 fibre wads and tied them out down the farm today these are a 2.5 inch shell .I was hoping for a quieter less punchy cart that could still kill pigeons out to say 25 yds . Pattern testing them at 25 yds and I was very impressed by them they held together very well and seemed to have plenty of energy on target (my not so scientific ballistic mediums compared to the hi pea. No6 ) they were definatly quieter and smoother .and think I will try some on the pigeons in spring . Just a shame that they are almost as expensive as the much bigger high pheasant . Any one tried these carts on pigeons or clays ?
humperdingle
I had the .410 out the other day but used Lyalvale 3” 19gram 6… I was really surprised by how many I was hitting - Fast crossers, bolting bunny, etc. Last time I used the lighter 2.5” loads, I couldn’t hit a thing! Mind you, different gun, so more than likely a gun fit issue.
Ultrastu
I nearly bought a slab of those . Pretty good cart I think .
enfieldspares
I like Eley's .410 Trap. English 7 1/2 with a plaswad. Kill clays well enough. Not tried on live quarry owing to the plaswad making it "verboten" where I shoot.
Jimbo yorks
I've used a few slabs of the 18 gram 7 in 28 gauge ones and they have been brilliant. Used them on alot of walked up days and shot phesants cleanly out to around 30 yards with them along with partridge and a few pigeons. If they are the same in 410 then you won't have any bother! Ultrastu
That's good to know .maybe at only 11 grm the range would be 25 yds max but the power and pattern suggest they will do the job .gonna buy a few boxes . cheers
