bigroomboy
So after not really seeing many pigeons around for quite some time now, I can report that a good number of pigeons have started floating over the rape fields and woods near my house in Essex. Unfortunately I popped 20 mins down the road to a permission I have and barely a pigeon in sight. Promising non the less!

Not sure whereabouts you are in Essex, but I drove up from Kent to Rayleigh and then onto Brentwood yesterday and saw no pigeons at all on any rape fields (none seen in trees surrounding the fields either). The only one or two I saw were between Rayleigh and Gt.Baddow on the ground under some oak trees, so obviously still finding acorns. Good luck with finding some anyway. My permission is near Brentwood and I can't find much there! Jives with what you saw.
