Do they need to be so tight? No they don't need to be so tight, the little C spanner is to get them out rather than put them in. Sold my last one about 2 years ago, very hard to find nowadays. Do some CAD - that’s Cardboard Aided Design - transfer the template to steel and get busy with the bench grinder & dremel. Won’t be brilliant but you only need it to work once, after all.
