Just knocked this up for one of the keepers , story of the horn was getting thrown out , looks like its been left out in the elements , going rotten & skanky, the keeper rescued the pair , said would have a go & make him a stick , after a lot of filing , uncurling& bulking managed to get enough solid horn for a market stick , fitted on a mottled hazel shank, should do him....

Knowing how much work that must have gone into that market stick, your statement of ‘just knocked this up’ is the understatement of the year.

Wonderful workmanship as always Boo.

Many thanks for sharing.

That keeper will be well pleased.

That’s a really nice stick, and my preference is rams horn sticks.

As a kid I would go down the shed and watch my father making rams horn sticks.

He had a gas Burco boiler, boiling the rams horns outside the door of the shed, and he would be inside the shed shaping, sanding and scraping the the handle with a piece of glass, which always amazed me.

In later years, I purchased him a Black & Decker power file when they came out and he was a bit sceptical about using it, but it made life much easier for him and a lot quicker.

I always remember the smell in the shed as you walked in and seeing rams horns hanging on cord tied to the rafters.

What a great talent you have, and appreciate the work and time that goes into the finished stick.
