flippermaj
I am looking at a couple of side by sides on line so can't handle them before purchase. I have shot 28 and 30 inch side by sides but one of them is available in a 32 inch barrel. The gun will be used for everything including a lot of wildfowling flighting geese and shooting teal over decoys and pigeons. While I think the 32 inch barrels would work well on high geese I am not sure if they would make the gun a little slow and unresponsive on smaller close in stuff like teal. Has anyone any personal experience of 32 inch barrels in a side by side? How did it handle? Cheers Flipper
oldypigeonpopper
Hello, I don't think 2 inches will make much difference (thats shotgun barrels 🤔😁) much depends on weight and balance, for that type of shooting I preferred a raised flat rib, Edited April 4, 2023 by oldypigeonpopper
ditchman
think oldypigeonpopper has answered your question...........its all about balance.....if you buy the 32" and it is nose heavy...it will be difficult to use...but easy to rectify...by drilling the but and adding lead...and once balanced will swing well and absudly.... will feel lighter.. oldypigeonpopper
Hello, as Simon mentioned ,easy to rectify balance, better still if stock has an end cap, look on Google for shotgun balance position , if it tips on front you can work out the extra weight required,
enfieldspares
The biggest problem with 32" barrels is fitting the damned thing in your cabinet! I had a Midland Gun 32" barrel SBS boxlock ejector with the old 3" chambers. I found that it was less "handy" than a 30" barrel gun. With modern powders I do not think 32" barrels offer any ballistic advantage save that the "bang" is that further from your delicate shell like ears. holloway
I have had both and found the 32 inch to be perfect for passing shots but always felt I was struggling to get on quick stuff like Teal ,but maybe that was just me .
