If anyone is interested this is a new event in two weeks time aimed at encouraging newbies to Country Sports. If you live within travelling distance and have the opportunity to bring some youngsters I hope it will be a good day. I will be tying flies with other club members and my pals grandson who started just six months ago and is proving to be very accomplished. I am hoping people will have a go at that too.

Not that I know of. I have come to this late by invitation. Will be good to try and develop this across the broad spectrum of country sports. A pal of mine will be covering wildfowling and have his punt and gun there I guess with his percussion 8 too.

Although I could not make it please the fair had a good day   it would have most likely been better if the weather had been better   country fairs are now becoming a thing of the past .

I have been told by the organiser it will be repeated next year when they hope it will be bigger and better. If you fancied demonstrating some old guns I bet they would be glad to have you. Was very tiny and the only thing for sale was venison burgers. I am told we had 345 through the door which for such awful weather was a result!

Dave if I had been asked several years ago I could have done a display  but at 85 years of age the mind is willing but the body is not. I have been doing displays in the north since 1972  at both game  fairs and agricultural shows. The last one we did in  that area was the Dumfries country fair it was a 2 days fair  and the muzzle loading display had a good attendance   there was a good attendance of  punters and spectators from Ireland.
