Webley starting pistol mk 2

I know I can't ask for a valuation on the site due to  rules. So, can someone PM me a suggested price for a Webley starting pistol mk 2 calibre .32 / .22

It was given to me by a retired headmaster who used it on sports days.

A search on the web gives some indication, but would like someone with knowledge of these to help me out.

Thanks in advance.

About £100 I expect, have seen them reach those levels on eBay. It is a collectors item for Webley enthusiasts.

Our friend’s lovely boxed set may have some collectible value as you suggest.
But as an old, now illegal, starting pistol, I think mine is probably worth nearer a fiver.

Nothing illegal about it! They aren’t allowed to sell new ones of that design now possibly as new, but second hand is perfectly ok! Let me know if it is for sale.

Ah! That would make sense.

Mine won’t be for sale, I’m afraid. It has introduced a lot of dogs to gunfire over the last half century and I expect it will continue to do so.

The idea that stating pistols and replicas should be red or orange , so that when police were confronted with a replica they could see it was one , was suggested by an ex police superintendent  called McKenzie , " special adviser " to then HS jack Straw . He had been big in police unions . This showed that to get top of he police hierarchy you did not need any intelligence at all as it seemed he had never heard of black paint .

Or, more dangerously, orange paint on a real one!
