Dave at kelton
Been debating if the young dog was ready was ready for the pressure of a big day on partridges at 20 months old. I still have some work to do but the alternative was leave him in the kennels three days a week whilst I am out picking up. Given he was not too silly on a grouse day when there is less scent and pressure I decided to give it a go. I was delighted I did as he did pretty well. He got a little impatient sitting around at first but got out and hunted, not too far but well into the bracken and heather. He found three birds off his own bat. Learned to cross the burns and stopped/returned when asked. By the end of the day he was settling well and just laid down on the last drive of the day with the other boys. I just need to work on the final polish.
