henry d
Right I`m still getting this type of screen OCCAISIONALLY........ As well as gif`s/emoticons not working but only on the internet. All GIF`s in my docs/my pics are working. I scan with EZ Armor, Sptware doctor and Windows defender, I use Uniblue Registry booster and have deleted cookies. When I try to back up my photos onto disc windows always finds some problem same as when I try to copy music to disc. I think the internet stuff has something to do with Active x or Adobe acrobat, but can`t work out what it is as I`m fairly computer illiterate and as for windows........not a scooby can anyone shed some light to an otherwise dull moment. Many thanks for any suggestions that are relevant

Dunkield
H, is it just PW or do you get any similar problems anywhere else?
henry d
H, is it just PW or do you get any similar problems anywhere else? Just checked on another forum and their emoticons, when I R-click and select properties, are javascript emoticons and they aren`t moving either, another thing I don`t get is the advert for PW badges in the top R corner I also had to download Adobe flash player but that might have been because I changed to Mozilla FF , however it may not have been working when I ditched IE6, not sure ! Any ideas how to find javascript and enable it ??
Big_Sam
Ah....Java, yes you probably need an update if you just moved to FF, it seems to stay one update ahead of IE I find.

In Firefox, click tools then click options then click the contents tab and make sure the top four options have a tick in the boxes.

ChrisNicholls
Ez Armor is very similar to Zone Alarm. Take a look here http://www.hyperorg.com/blogger/mtarchive/...rking_chec.html Worth a shot if nothing else.
henry d
Ad blocking was at high setting, so we`ll see how that goes...........before the AV goes and I get something better, as you can guess I`m leaning toward the AV being poop. AVG is now my first choice for anti virus and spyware control. I know lots of satissfied users and it's free. Paid for versions available too with more toys. http://free.grisoft.com/

Pushkin
henryd, if you think it could be active X related, go to this site http://www.pcreview.co.uk/startup/BHODemon.exe.php and download BHOD 2.0 free and run that. The instructions are straightforward and by doing this, you will at least know what helpers are present good and bad, and you can begin to clean out any rogues. let us know how you get on and if the problem persists we can try some other stuff. dustyfox
If this has just started do a system restore to the date it was not happening. But if it has always done it you may have to many java programmes running at once.

Pushkin
Henryd - how are you getting on with the problem? Pushkin
henry d
Early doors yet but looking good, I deleted all cookies that aren`t needed for frequently visited sites and shut down spyware doctor. I now still have no moving smilies or avatars, but pages are lightning quick and I don`t have to stop/refresh the pages. I also don`t get the weird page set up as per the screenshot above so we will see. Many thanks for the advice guys, I`m going to see if I can enrol on a comp course at the local college
