I think everyone suspected something along those lines, but I wasn't aware it had been 'admitted' so openly and by New Labour themselves.  My understanding was that Mrs Blair had been instrumental in pressuring Blair, for whom it wasn't all that high a priority.

I knew there had been a financial contribution to the Labour party to ban hunting.
