hello, i do not have that problem as my kids are 48 and 50 🤔😁, i only have a slow cooker for stews so i buy tins of mixed veg , it is not ideal but using raw veg it takes far to long cooking, just tried a tin of new potatoes , sliced and fried in the pan with 2 eggs , mushrooms, and tomatoes, that turned out good, Now steak Pie 👌

If you have a microwave, peel and chop the vegetables put them in a large ish plastic jug with an inch of water in, put cling film over, pierce clingfilm and microwave on high for 15 minutes before putting into the slow cooker.

This is what I do anyway.

I went to 2 Morrisons today and there veg was a good bit dearer than Tesco , I used to get salmon heads 20pence each for some reason the lurchers love one each there was none but they had jumped up to 75 pence each , then the fishmonger came down the aisle and said its your lucky day we have two and there reduced to 30pence each , Then i usually buy all the pork crackling and give the dogs a bit each day i think it helps them maintain condition  and there where only two packs i think the supermarkets are still trying to clear out the xmas surplus and maybe the 3rd or 4th will will see some better bargains
