Look at the first 2 pictures,,,, zoom in 👍

Not convinced - which is why I'm looking to Ditchy to clarify.  It's certainly not rounded like my Rebar (above), but I'm guessing its just milled out parallel, not bevelled edges.

Might be the angle of the 2nd picture,,,, looks slightly bevelled to me, but could be wrong 🥸

I think a definitive date of manufacture would help ? 🤷‍♂️ Certainly got us all thinking 🤔 😀

I don't know, but it does look very suited to a thumbnail to open the blade - as the (much more obvious and rounded) ones on my Rebar.  Not claiming I'm definitely right, but that's how my thinking goes.  The Leatherman stripper I have (also the Rebar and pictured earlier) has a very bevelled edge and tapered V shaped notch.  Ditchy's one would onlt work for very thin wire.

The Swiss Army type stripper shown in 39TDS video seems to work - but the notch is only an insulation 'puller' and does no cutting - hence no bevelled edge.

Looking at the 2nd couple of pictures [on page 2] again,,,,, there is a notch the other side which a metal 'band' goes into to keep the screwdriver open ??. When closed, does the questionable notch have something similar to keep it closed ? 🤷‍♂️

I think it is just a 'nail notch' to assist in opening the blade.  These are the notches on my (more recent being around 15 - 10 years old) Rebar

I can see how yours would work, just can't see it on ditchman's, simply because that's how he would open his 🤷‍♂️🤓

It's not that easy on mine - I 'pre-opened' the blade slightly for the photo, but you can get your nail in on mine.  Not sure bout Ditchy's?

That's the thing,,,, if ditchy's opened like that, he wouldn't be asking the question ! 🤔🤦‍♂️🤣

Fa from convinced about using the blade in that way as it is completely impractical on some of my knives but the function of the notch is to assist in removing the insulation from wire.

Very good, just had the lads knife out to check 👍

i cant get my finger nail into the notch when closed

So it's NOT for opening 🤔 So, a question for you,,,, how long have you owned these, and why has it taken so long to question these notches ?! 🤷‍♂️🤓🤣🤣🤣

just tried it...................NO

Paint tin opener ? 🤷‍♂️

Am I correct in saying that the notch on the flathead screwdriver one has some wear to it, whereas the philips one doesn't ?
