Shooting Pheasants in Yorkshire.

My eldest son and a Mate accompanied myself and a Mate up to Ripon to shoot a few pheasants on Saturday.

Dry and bright but a bit too warm, the birds were reluctant to fly well in the morning.

After lunch a bit more cloud came in and they started to fly wonderfully.

Mike had set his phone up to record video and then grabbed some screen shots from the footage.

Nice one T C , might be slightly different in Yorkshire but around this way the Partridges have mainly taken care of October and the long tails start towards the end of the month or early November , our old boss who is now long gone didn't start till the second Monday in November as he always shot on a Monday , he used to say it wasn't worth starting until the leaves are off the trees , now you would have to wait a lot longer than the second Monday in November to see the leaves off the trees .

Pheasants have been in season for nearly a month and I have not yet considered raising my gun to one. Done three order full days on the partridge though. First pheasants for me will be in ten days time in Shropshire.
Nice pictures TC, thanks for posting.

Between the guns there were only two partridges shot for the day.

But down at Audley End in Essex on Tuesday it was an all partridge day.

It was all ladies too. Mr Tightchoke was out getting the charm on, left me for a lady whose need was greater than mine :) To be fair, he had already kicked me into shape, I got some beautiful high partridge, highest I've ever seen on the last drive.
