*good* i Have just got back from a trip up the north east as the guest of Grasshopper (Jeff).

i got to his place on thursday afternoon, came home on saturday afternoon and had a fantastic time.

After i had settled myself at the farm guest house, jeff and a couple of his friends came up to meet and greet me, after we all said are hello's and what not Jeff said he had arranged for him and Steuy to take me out with the NV set ups that they had got.

We first went to sit on some round bales that had been left out by the farmer on a good vantage point, over looking a few different fields and along some wood edges. we did not spot any foxes, but i saw a few rabbits out at quite a distance and a badger came out to check out the Fox-Pro call we had been using. we then moved off to another area, but still did not see charlie ( i think he has been doing his job to good and shot them all  ), we again saw a few good rabbits and an owl that came in from about 500 yrds away and had eyes that were as bright as lights.

We then went back to the Farm Bunk house for something to eat, Jeffs brother ( i think - may have been his cousin ) had made us all a Venison cassarole, 2 of the shoot farmers joined us and we had a good night, with a few stories told and quite a lot of beer, wine and cider drunk by all -Pint- .

The following morning i had been invited to a game shoot by Jeff as his guest gun *aaaa*, the shoot is a small syndicate shoot run by a few Farmers that own the land ( about 1000 acres or so) and a few local lads who all muck in to run the shoot and do all the taks that need doing, the day is set up as Walk 1, Shoot 1 day, with the walking/beating lads also carring guns to shoot any birds that go back or off the land.

i had a cracking day and saw loads of Roe deer including a couple of Reds, I accounted for 6 Pheasants, 1 Snipe, 1 Jay and a woodpigeon ( both the jay and pigeon must have been 60 yrds + up and were some of the best shots i've done in a while, this was followed by a Buffet style meal at the local pub and a few beers. what i must say is that i was made to feel more than welcome by everybody on the shoot and most went out there way to help me in any way they could. *good*

On Saturday morning Jeff took me out stalking for a Roe Doe, he called at the bunk house at 6.45 and we had coffee etc , then set off on our stalk. we walked through a couple of fields and down a track through the wood ( loads of fresh deer slots to be seen), as we got to the bottom of the track we saw a roe doe standing & eating on the track, she the moved off slowly into cover. Jeff told me to walk ahead and see if i could get the shot - i walked down slowly to try to see her, but she spoted me first and ran off up the forrest  , Jeff said i was walking too fast and should slow down a bit if i want to get a shot ( The fallow deer that i stalk aren't so jittery), i told jeff to take the lead and i would follow at his pace. Not more than 500yrds down the track we see another nice doe grazing just in the edge of the wood, i waited till i could get a clear shot on her, but it wasnt happeinng so jeff said to take the shot of his shoulder - still no good as i couldnt see her clear enough, then as i moved my rifle off his shoulder jeff went to move and both our barrels knocked together and made that sound only a T8 can -Ting!! Pullinghair*** and up looks our little friend, we freeze and she looks for a while then carries on feeding ( very lucky indeed), so i manage to lie down prone to get the shot, she moves forward just enough for me to get a nice clean neck shot and Bang - down goes the little roe doe and i have a smile on my face from ear to ear.

**yahoo** **yahoo** **yahoo**

we grolloched her in the wood and then took her back to Stuey's to take her coat off and chop her up for steaks etc.

This ended what was a brilliant couple of days and all i can say is a massive thank you to Jeff and his mates for a wonderful time. *good* *good* *good*

Paul it was a pleasure to have you as a guest on our shoot, you shot well, behaved impecably..indeed you were a true gentleman...although,there were no signs of chivalry in the pub when we were asking the barmaid to take her top off :good: in fact if i recall correctly you were facing away from the bar and suddenly turned around to pick your next drink, even though your glass was full  :no:

On a more serious note..we,ve got nothing left to shoot now  he wasn,t exagerating about the Pigeon and Jay,2 awsome shots....well done mate  your welcome back just as soon as there,s something in the woods again :D:D:lol:
