hedge
I'm hoping the PW massive can help with this. Recently acquired a 20b Hatsan Escort L/H semi-auto. I already have a 12b version. The 20b has a small pin sticking out close to the loading gate. Any idea what it is? My 12b does not have it and I'm not sure if it's a spare firing pin or something else. It sort of works a bit loose over time and I push it back in. Can't see it serves any purpose for the action. Anyone able to ID it for me please. Thanks. ditchman
is it a retaining pin that has dropped out of position ?
BobbyH
I’m pretty sure it’s a retaining pin for the inside magazine locking bar. Im sure my 12B has one!
ditchman
gently tap it back in
bruno22rf
If you go on the Hatsan manuals site you can get a schematic/parts list/name - you should be able to identify it from there.

End of the day that bit should not be hanging down, some are held in place internally with clips but I'm guessing it's either the pin for the bolt release or the ejector thingy plate inside. Removing the barrel is easy and you should see whatever pivots on the pin by looking inside?
hedge
Thanks guys. I did look at the schematics before but could not find reference to that specific part. I do find the magazine push gate to release the bolt quite hard work at times so it could be linked to that. I'll strip it down and have a good look. Thanks for the comments. I'll let you know how I get on.
hedge Posted Saturday at 22:10 Author Report Share Posted Saturday at 22:10 **SOLVED/FIXED** Just a quick update to say that I've fixed it. I checked on my other Hatsan and it is indeed a retaining pin. It helps hold the cartridge feed mechanics in place. I had to pull the bolt back be able to use my finger to push the internals into the right place to line up the pin and it pushed straight back in. I was having some cartridge ejection and feed issues as well as the bolt release being very tricky. It seems to be sorted so I'm trying it out tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for the comments.

scarecrow243
i would put a bit of tape over the hole in case the pin drops out

I used it at the weekend and it worked well with the pin in place but it kept dropping down every 4 or 5 shots and would jam up. I need to seat the pin properly and maybe glue it in. I think a retaining clip might be missing. Tape is a good short term solution until I can strip it properly.

The schematic suggests a small spring clip type thing. I need to strip the gun down to have a good look. The missing part could be in the box still!
