I managed to get a winter ticket on a syndicate lake I have been on the waiting list for some time now , so decided to have a couple of outings over the holiday. Managed 4 and lost 2.

29lb mirror 27 linear 20 common and a 23 common. Lost a good 30lb+ at the net  which was a bit gutting but that’s fishing.

How are you fishing the 'germs', mag aligner and donkey **** bag or a bunch tied on top of a small pop up?

The likes of Gerry Savage and Jim Gibbinson pushed the envelope with regards to winter carping back in the late 60's.

Spinner rig with a large maggot clip on the swivel with a bit of bouyant rig foam and 7 maggots 4 dead 3 live sits just off bottom. Small handful of maggots half dead half alive in pva web stuff hooked on my hook.
Don’t think the winters are as cold as they were a few years back which helps I remember the lakes being frozen for a couple of weeks or more. Hardly freeze for a week now.

The water in this lake is crystal clear all year the fish are much better colours when it’s clear. Other place I fish is a bit murky most of the year makes the fish a bit pastey i think. Hoping to get amongst the bigger fish next time🤞🏻. Although happy with a fish this time of year.

Any fish this time of the year is worthy.

Just for the sake of being nosey, be interested to know the water. PM preferably.
