New builds on low level ground, building on flood plain, flood banks - only pass on the problem elsewhere, these all have an impact on flooding where it did not flood before but keep on blaming global warming.

Hello, Well done them, It is privately owned but added the problem was a blockage in a balance pond on some more private land All passing the Buck !!!!!

I guess in their position to have tried is far better than just taking it.

The houses are in the wrong place, the balance pond has not been maintained and they are stuck.

Definitely got to try something, we see so many estate's being built on what we older folk knew as flood areas/plains. Then the local rag goes on about the ever changing weather and blames, well anything but the actual cause.

Yes indeed, why people don't do a little research before buying I will NEVER understand.

Flooding often seems to affect places with names such as Willow Holme (Carlisle) or Fishlake (Doncaster).   Why would that be, I wonder?

Yes, as I said a little research is often very worthwhile.

I watched a housing estate being built near a river that often burst its banks with enough rain, funny thing was it flooded while they were building them , how did that not come up on a survey.

They look at a nice new house, shiny windows, nice front door and the obvious bragging rights in the supermarket and pubs and their social circle "ive bought a brand new house you know"

Once sucked in by the sales team, who really dont give a monkeys if it will flood next week or even fall down in 50 years time, the buyers are hooked well and truly. 

And then there the question, the buyers have no historic knowledge of the area often moving from city's onto what they think is their dream country escape. And as you say no research due to be blinded by the glitter and shine.
