bunny_blaster
During the week I had 2 calls to shoot pigeons on rape. The forecast for Friday was very windy, I got set up after work and I had to tie my hide poles to the hedge to stop my hide blowing over. The birds battled there way in to the pattern and I had some cracking second shots as they turned off in the wind after the first shot. I finished the afternoon with 87 pigeon. The other block of rape I shot today was a large 200 acre block which I’ve never shot before. The weather forecast was for rain at 12.00. I hadn’t watched this ground at all so I was going in blind. I arrived at 7.30 just as it was getting light in hope of seeing some birds come out of roost and give me an idea of where to go. The first birds arrived and sat up in the trees on the boundary. It was going to be a long walk so a call to the farmer saw him arrive in his gator to carry my gear to where I wanted to go. I got set up and the birds came in lovely with the strong wind. At 11.30 it started raining so I gave it until 12.00 and called it a day as the rain had put a stop to the birds flighting. It’s a shame the rain spoiled it as there were a good amount of birds about and I’m sure a 100+ bag would have been on the cards. I finished the morning with

marsh man
Two nice bags of Pigeons ,no one around this way ever mention Pigeon shooting with game shoots going on most days and very few Pigeons going on the rape so things should start to liven up on the first Saturday in February . Rain was forecast from late morning and they were more or less bang on time , it started to rain hard around dinnertime and when I was coming home just after 4pm it was pouring of rain with a very strong wind , not the weather for shooting . yickdaz
That's 2 great results and good shooting in those conditions they are not on rape in the numbers you have around here I had a 40 bag in storm darragh back in dec and a 20 bag on fodder turnips few weeks ago there's more on those crops than rape strangely , I expect when the sheep are on them they will divert to the rape
