missedagainstan
Evening all I have been looking to replace my Beretta semi auto 391 that I px last year to fund my rifle I have taken a liking the Benelli black eagle II but have never picked one up http://www.benelliusa.com/firearms/sbe2.tpl Or buy Beretta which I enjoyed shooting when I had one, xtrema 2 would be the choice from the Berretta range. http://www.beretta.com/index.aspx?m=74&idc=1&ids=74 Hope the links work Would like to hear your thoughts on both guns especially the Benelli. I don't think I would go wrong with any of the two. The px value on my old Beretta last year was excellent The gun would be mainly for the pigeon hide and in the black synthetic option
Oly
Havent tried either, but from what I've heard/read/seen both are great guns, and even though I have a 391 too, I would go for the Benelli - I've heard a great deal of good things about them and I love the idea of a kinetic action (less mess too). webber
I agree that both are excellent guns. Don't forget that Beretta own Benelli. My keeper friend has a Benelli semi, I have only put a few cartridges through it, but the felt recoil was noticeably more, than my gas operated Beretta Lioness. I guess that this is due to the Benelli being inertia operated. It may be best if you could try to shoot a Benelli, even if it is not the exact same model, you will then have experienced an inertia semi. My personal preference would stay with the Beretta. webber
Baldrick
Do you definitely need the 3.5" chambers on a Super Black Eagle? If you're not a dedicated wildfowler, wouldn't a more conventional Benelli M2 Field be more versatile?
missedagainstan
a lot lighter than the beretta ex Like that Do you definitely need the 3.5" chambers on a Super Black Eagle? If you're not a dedicated wildfowler, wouldn't a more conventional Benelli M2 Field be more versatile? Never seen the M2 is it similar to the eagle? I phoned the gun shop to day to inquire about the black eagle 2, waiting list up untill march/april and a cash price of £950 there about

08shooter
beretta any day of the week, ive seen too many benellis fail in my time. And how have they failed pray tell as 1) bet it wasnt cleaned "2) trying to put puff shot size carts through so it jams actually mate of the three i saw fail each one was cleaned religiously,2 would nt cycle anything less than 32g shells.the 3rd had numerous jams with 28 shells. maybe just i ve seen all the bad ones ,i know they get great reviews but i ll stick with gas and routine cleaning.atb

Baldrick
The M2 is the all-rounder version, whereas the SBE2 is aimed at wildfowlers and lunatic Yank turkey hunters. Unless you use 3.5" ammo on a regular basis, buy the M2. It'll cycle lighter cartridges, although you'll still need to fire a couple of boxes of magnum cartridges to bed in the recoil spring. Floating Chamber
Although an offshoot from the Williams' inertia system, the Benellis always seem to kick like ****. Much improved with a mercury recoil reducer. Beretta over Benelli!

strudwick
Hi i have a benelli super 90 m1 you can see a pic of it in spotring pics under pigeons 272 bag i think its a good gun easy to cleen and mouns nicly i have hels a beretta exstrema 2 and found it bigger and fealt more clumsy , i did have a old beretta 303 as well . i would probebly alwas have a benelli auto now if i get rid of this one i would get a new one
shootingmike
I think the beretta is a bit of a clumsy lump and seems a bit awkward and off balance. Can't knock the reliability though. A friend has the SBE2 and loves it, I've shot it and it comes up lovely with only marginally more recoil felt with 3.5 inch fast steel homeloads ! He did have an initial problem with it not cycling the third cartridge so he took it back. Examination discovered that on import the magazine tube had been crimped in the wrong place. Now it's sorted it doesn't miss a beat. As has already been suggested, the M2 looks exactly the same but is more versatile as it's 3 inch. Also, the new M2's have the same "comfortech" stock as the SBE 2 which effectively has the stock seperated in 2 by rubber strips to reduce the recoil further.
