digger
This is not a wind up. I have a `72 merc in my garage that needs welding on the passenger footwell and drivers side cill. It needs registering with the DVLA as it was abandoned and I was allowed to have it. I appreciate the fact there are no keys will lead to people giving this a wide berth but I can assure you this is totally legit. I had planned to do it up myself but have neither the time nor money, maybe someone on here wants it, that or it gets scrapped in the new year. Engine looks immaculate, has hard top with rips in soft top. Need my garage back so if you can take it its yours, gratis. No wise cracks please
BSA Shaun
Have you got anything that pertains you to be the registered keeper? Can you also reply to my PM, Thanks
digger
I have not registered it in my name as I never got round to it. I looked on the DVLA website and beleive it costs in the region of £35 ? If it helps to get my garage back I will happily do so if the new owner reimburses the cost. As I said, all is above board. If I had the time and space I would have snapped it up! Great car - just suffer badly with rot! As for V5 - easy to get just que up at your local DVLA center and they will right you one out for £35ish. I have dont it a number of times for abandond classics. Someone is getting a bargain - get stuck in! DB

Mungler
Digger you got a link to a picture? Or a comparitive ad on Autotrader / Ebay? I am scratching my head here - what are we talking stacked headlights or beruit taxi or pagoda? All pre-1980's Merc are becoming uber trendy. All seriousness, I want one of these : http://www.ce-occasions.nl/Classics/Mercedes72.jpg

Mungler
Ah, if it's the fixed head coupe then that is an SLC
BSA Shaun
Back in the day mate think they were all called just SL? Also from the description it has the removable hard top, the piccie was just an example of the shape
digger
I know about as much about cars as I do the way a womans mind works, its the semi hard top if that makes any sense ? Has the removable hard top and bench seats in the rear. Shaun has the reg and is checking it out. Although its free it does not come with a trailer, be warned though my wife will be so pleased to get the garage back she may attempt a kiss of gratitude, I advise a welders mask or all in one biological warfare suit
Mungler
If it is the convertible with or without the hard top option then it's an SL If the roof doesn't come off then it's the SLC Digger can you confirm / find a photo off the intra web? The photo above is one from the 1980's You can always get rid of an SL if only for spares / as a donor car. One of my mates just sold his one - a replacement boot lid was ridiculous money (for example). My advice - stick it up on eBay with the auction to finish on Sunday at 7 p.m. and no reserve
BSA Shaun
Its the convertible Mungler, so the SL
Mungler
Digger, ebay it - if you have a full set of the original wheels and the centre hubs you'll get something back.
